Canik, the good and bad
So there I was hanging at the range with my Smith and Wesson M&P 9, I always loved my SW pistols as they were the first striker fired pistols I had owned. This particular day we were at a local weekend event called blessing of the guns, unfortunately the guy who owned the range sold his place so the blessing no longer happens. Anyway as we shot some of the competitions I noticed a guy shooting a pistol with a red dot at clay pigeons at about 100 yards no these were not flying they were just setup on the ground. Intrigued, I first of all had never seen a red dot on a pistol and second I’ve never seen a Canik. I was able to check it out and a few days later went and found one at my local gun shop.
I purchased a Canik TP9 Elite Combat oh man was I exited to get on the range with this thing so what is the TP9 Elite Combat. Well it’s one of the best pistols have have had the pleasure to shoot, not to mention for the price point on a Canik pistol with what you get in the box compared to other brands. These pistols come generally with two magazines, a holster (not shown), optics plates, some cleaning tools, different size back straps. This model came with a threaded barrel, barrel protector, and wrench for the protector.
Now the picture above is not the new pistol its the pistol after I through a few mods on and thousands of rounds down range. We will have a later post about the Swampfox Sentinel, and the Disruptive defense compensator. Now being my first Canik this has been one amazing firearm, I switched from carrying my M&P almost immediately, I have put thousands of rounds down this handgun without any issue. So remember at the top I said the good and the bad about Canik, well here you go!
The Good, here are just a few things I love about Canik
Comes with everything you could need to start carrying right out of the box.
AMAZING triggers the break and reset are the crispest factory triggers I have put my finger on.
Optics cut and optic plate adapters to mount any foot print red dot.
Different back straps for different size hands.
Now the BAD part,
I have Canikitis, yes I have come down with the sickness and can’t seam to stop buying them, my current Canikitis issues consist of the TP9 Elite Combat, the TP9 Elite SC, the SFX Rival, the SFT, and a Rival-S Darkside. Stay tuned I will be doing full reviews on the Canik lines that I own from unboxing to the range and we will get into some other things like after market triggers, optics, weighted backstraps.
